The women's soccer team ended its season on Tuesday against Camden County College. The Roadrunners played well and were tied 1-1 at the half with the #10 team in the nation but eventually fell by a score of 4-1. The game marked the final appearance for GCC sophs Jael Fedora, Elaina Unger, Katie Ambrosius and Caitlin Daly. The Roadrunner sophomores were honored at halftime with a ceremony with GCC Athletic Director, Ron Case. Unger scored the lone goal for GCC just before the end of the first half to tie the game at 1-1.
The second half was all Camden CC as Danielle Magazzu scored in the 47th minute, then Sarah Springer scored in the 52nd minute and Samantha Gibner closed out the scoring with a goal in the 61st minute.
The team finished the season 3-13-1. Two key season ending injuries hurt the team early in the season as MaryKate Covely and Ashley Kodluck both went down. Covely scored 5 goals and had 3 assists in the first six games of the season before suffering her injury. She is currently rehabbing her knee and hopes to return to the lineup next season. The team will also return promising freshman Jennifer Longley, Shannon Johnson and Nichole Straga.
