Roadrunners Fall in High Scoring Opener

The men's team huddled just prior to tipoff

November 4, 2009

Deptford, NJ

It may have been opening night but the offenses seemed to be in mid-season form as 194 points were scored in the men's basketball game on Wednesday night. Despite leading for most of the first 32 minutes of the game, the momentum shifted to the Hawks from Harford CC late and they came away with a 100-94 win. The Roadrunners dropped to 0-1 on the season but there is a lot to look forward to this season as it looks like it will be an exciting one.

Sophomore Darnell McCargo (Collingswood, NJ/Collingwood HS) a transfer student from Angelina College led the Roadrunners with 21 points mostly on slashing drives to the basket but he also showed good mid-range touch and connected on two 3-pt. shots. Sophomores Anthony Talley and Greg Prince added 18 and 16 respectively and freshman Marquis Jones (Sicklerville, NJ/Timber Creek HS) tallied 17 points. Leading the way for Harford was Troy Burgan who tallied a game high 31 points.

The men will return to action at home on Saturday afternoon at 3pm against CCBC-Dundalk in what looks to be another exciting contest.
